7. Installation using a convection
chamber
A convection chamber is just a lightweight
metal box with a sloped top to direct the heat out into the room.
The slope at the top makes all the difference, as does insulating
the chamber with a quilt of fibreglass wool. In normal operation
the surface temperature of the chamber may become almost as hot
as the stove itself so that the added surface area all helps
to boost the convective flow of warmth out into the room.
XXAny
blacksmith or sheet metal worker should be able to produce a
box for you if you provide the basic dimensions. Don't make things
too cramped you need a sufficient gap between the stove
and the box to allow the air to circulate freely.
XXTo
finish the box off at the front it is normal to fit a mitred
strip-steel strip somewhat in the manner of a picture-frame.
The trim is also useful in concealing the fibreglass insulation
that covers the chamber on all three sides as well as on the
top.
