14. Installation – fluing off the back (a)

Most stoves permit the option of fluing off the back and this is a popular choice since the top surface of the stove is left clear.
XXDraft is slightly degraded but this is unlikely to be noticed in a chimney that is otherwise performing well.
XXThe standard component to use at the back of a stove is a Tee and NEVER a 90º elbow. Even a minor soot-fall can block an elbow and gaining access to the blockage may be difficult or impossible. A Tee allows the soot to run down past the stove, and a removable cap at the base permits access in event of a blockage.
XXThe stove must be installed in such a way that access for soot removal is easy both in event of a blockage, but also when the chimney is being swept.
XXIn some installations it may be convenient to fit a 90º elbow (B.) below the Tee in place of the Tee cap (A.) The elbow is rotated to serve a chase and double-seal soot-box at any suitable location.
